By him, who is untouched by existence and non-existence, enlightened, contented, devoid of desire, is done nothing, though from worldly viewpoint he is acting as usual.
Life and experience in the sensory plane and that in the wisdom plane, are quite different. One is physical, involving movement and activity, perceptible to the senses. The other is internal, imperceptible to the senses, revealed only to the intelligence.
Both work parallelly, as we have senses on the body interacting with objects, which are seemingly gross and separate from them. Whereas in the inner intelligence level what works is knowledge, involving no movement. One is gross, the other is subtle.
You see a person with your eyes. Instantly the intelligence works subtly and finds he is your close friend, whom you have not met for long. Eyes see the colour and shape of the person. The rest of the work is done by the inner intelligence.
The Knower’s understanding has risen above the relative existence and non-existence alike. Hence he finds nothing to desire at all. Consequently, he is contented in full, floating always in the singular, non-dual, transcendental Self. That delight is not from any desire, its pursuit and fulfilment. It is from non-desiring, from the mind and its pure nature, from Consciousness, the Self.
Such a one will no doubt be bodily active, but inwardly dwelling in the fullness of Self. The point to grasp is that activity takes place at its levels. And knowledge shines intact without any conflict. The purpose of spiritual wisdom is to gain this harmony.
