Ashtavakra Gita 3.6 -

आस्थित: परमाद्वैतं मोक्षार्थेऽपि व्यवस्थित: ।
आश्चर्यं कामवशगो विकल: केलिशिक्षया

āsthitaḥ paramādvaitaṃ mokṣārthe’pi vyavasthitaḥ .
āścaryaṃ kāma-vaśago vikalaḥ keli-śikṣayā .. 3-6..

It is bewildering that one seated in supreme non-dualness, firmly given to liberation, is, subdued by lust, enfeebled by amorous sports.

Commentary by Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

Normally speaking, love and hate are the urges which make one act in his life. As one grows, they enhance themselves considerably. Spirituality is the art and wisdom of dissuading and attenuating these and preserving an even, gentle and sublime disposition. To realize the Self means to transcend pairs of opposites, be freed of the swinging these bring about ceaselessly. So, how can a Self-realized person have any place for lust in his life?

Sage Ashtavakra thus questions, expresses strangeness, that a Knower, established well in the supreme non-duality, again falls a prey to passion and seeks sensory thrills, like the ordinary people. Nonetheless, this aberration is not uncommon. It is not the least upheld by anybody. The enlightened as well as the ignorant alike condemn such conflicts in a man of spirituality.

To seek spiritual wisdom is to be given to the restraints and regulations, whereby the mind grows purity, intelligence relishes clarity and stability.

To think of a Knower resorting to unchecked sensory thrills and excitement is greatly alien, disheartening to the core. Seekers as well as Knowers have to keep this in mind firmly and proceed to achieve their goal.

In Oneness, there is no scope for desire or hatred. The mind and intelligence gain more and more purity and sublimity, unleashing the effulgence and blissfulness of the Self.
