Even after listening to the supreme Truth, the dull-witted person does not leave his delusion. Though with effort he looks to be controlled, internally he is indulging in sensory objects.
The whole spirituality is a mento-intellectual pursuit, as mentioned earlier. It aims at purifying and sublimating emotional mind and rational intelligence. Keeping this in mind, what the seeker should do is to tame the mind by repeated introspection, as Krishna emphasizes in Gita: See repeatedly that the objects of the world are laden with the evils of birth, death, old age, disease and affliction (Gita 13.8 ). The wise one does not rejoice in them (Gita 5.22 ).
When the mind is fed with this kind of evaluation through introspection, it is bound to be purified and sublime. In place of passion, it starts rearing dispassion and the qualitative enrichment will inevitably grace it. In this, the words of the Sage are a very strong warning, an admonition. Every one should heed it whole-heartedly. Truthful introspection done consistently is the only way for mental correction and sublimation.
Mind you, the body stops its growth in say twenty-one years. Thereupon it starts declining. The only constituents in human personality to grow thereafter are the mind and intelligence. Their growth can be ceaseless, till the last breath.
Knowing this well, every one should be alert and conscientious to make the mind and intelligence grow well. Truthful infusional introspection is the right way for it, which all can do any time! One who fails in this, will only indulge in sensory objects and degrade himself, warns the Sage.
