He whose activity has dropped, who from the worldly view is also active, he has truly no opportunity to work or even to speak anything whatever.
Ever since creation began, the visible world was evolved, its contents have been pulsating and acting ceaselessly. Right from the minutest particle to the biggest celestial body, everything remains vibrant and active. Activity becomes more and more visible, when the acting entity is bigger. Imagine the tremendous speed with which our earth is revolving ceaselessly, the moon as well. The plants, animals and other creatures also do not keep quiet at all. Can the human be an exception in the matter?
In Gita, Krishna has explained this point repeatedly. He states how spiritual wisdom enables one to be immensely active benefiting the society, and how at the same time it does not condition, affect or bind the actor (3.5, 4.18-24 ). The purpose of spiritual wisdom is not to shun activity and take to idleness. Krishna has pointed that whoever shuns activity is a hypocrite.
True spiritual enlightenment takes away mind’s delusion and constriction, making one free to act confidently. It renders intelligence clearer to take up all activities with incessant delight, free of dependences. For, the Knower’s delight springs from his Self. He lives, moves and works with delight (4.20 ). His actions are physical, oral, mental and intellectual as well, causing no constriction or taint whatsoever. In fact, spiritual wisdom is meant to make people find joy and fulfilment in their respective activities and pursuits. Make no mistake about this.
