Janaka said: In me, the infinite ocean, the boat of the universe swings hither and thither propelled by its own wind. I do not feel intolerant.
Spiritually enlightened people do not have a uniform life. Each may have his own features, sometimes amazing and even intriguing. Knower can be flexible to any extent. It depends upon one’s own understanding, option and affinity.
Earlier Janaka said (Ashtavakra 2.24 ) that the ark of the universe may get lost, due to cessation of the mind-wind that moves it. Here he says the universe-boat moves hither and thither in the Self-ocean, due to its own wind. He is not intolerant about it.
Universe moves of its own accord governed by its own laws and processes. Interactions continue for the Knower, propelled by the guṇas of nature. Knower looks at the whole process with total indifference. Like birth and death, health and ill health also will be. Night and day may vary. Seasons may fail, including rain. Floods and drought may occur. Earthquake and the like may also. Likewise bumper crops also will grace.
Let one or the other phase be on. “I look at everything with patience and tolerance. I do not wish or not wish anything. Like the flow of a river, let the current of life have its sway. Shedding all preference and prejudice, I live, nourished by indifference and adorned by harmony.” Mind becomes immensely flexible. Intelligence gets wisely reconciled.
