In the non-dual ‘I’, which is my nature, where is world, where is the seeker of liberation, where is a yogi, where the Knower either? Where is one in bondage and where the liberated either?
The freedom, release and splendour king Janaka experiences effortlessly on hearing Sage Ashtavakra’s exposure are so absolute, overwhelming and complete, that he goes on negating every possible concept and proposition indicating nothing other than the singular indescribable Self and its fullness and freedom. It is amazing to note how eloquent and assertive the expressions of one liberated from the clutches of ignorance and delusion can be!
Janaka disposes of practically every concept revolving around mind, intelligence and ego, which constitute one’s inner personality. See how his words pour/fountain forth phrases expressing his placidity, poise and beatitude!
Where is the world at all? Equally so, where comes a seeker of liberation? Liberation from the bondage caused by a non-existent world, a world of illusion? Where is even any yogin? What for is the practice of yoga itself? You cannot liberate the Self. Then to purify whom is yoga?
Where is any Knower at all? What has he known? Is there anything to be known? One knows something when it is different from him, submitting itself to be known. In the context of the Self, does this apply the least? Nothing can bind the Self. So, where is bondage? None is hence liberated either. One’s own real nature rules out any of these needs and relevances!
