The cool mind of the wise one yearns not for any gain, grieves not over no gain, but is filled with nectar alone.

Commentary by Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

The mind of a spiritually enlightened person is unique in every way. Without any effort, with absolute indifference to everything conceivable, it thrives with full contentment. Generally, any such outcome, even in a small measure, is had by exclusive search, seeking and consequent perseverance. But the Knower derives it effortlessly. This is the secret as well as the greatness of the Self, the Witness, the subjective presence.

Knower’s mind is pure, gentle, wholesome, poised and hence full in every way. Generally, one can expect such sufficiency by acquiring the objects he aspires for. But the Knower not given to desiring, does not strive to get the desired objects. The fullness he feels emerges from the infinitely resourceful Self, radiating joy ceaselessly.

Knower’s mind remains cool, having no cause for agitation and tension. Consequently, his contentment is overflowing. His mind is filled with nectar, says the Sage.

The world and environments do not have a look of their own. They are what the onlookers make them. It is our five senses and the brain centres that colour and shape the world objects. And mind decides whether what the senses make is pleasant or unpleasant. When one intensely waits for someone to arrive, in every one coming that way he will begin to see him. Mind is astute in colouring and shaping the objects.
