Solely by listening to the Truth, the one of serene intelligence, becomes free of all agitation. He is not swayed by proper and improper conduct, nor by indifference to these.
Spiritual wisdom, knowledge of the Self, is actually a pursuit of intelligence. Senses connect us to the world objects. Mind employs the senses and registers object imprints. Intelligence works on them and generates knowledge. When the Self is exposed, intelligence grasps it and brings reformation to the mind.
When the graceful Teacher exposes the Self, if the seeker’s intelligence is pure and serene, it grasps the message and instantly becomes free of all attraction and repulsion. Such serenity is the goal of all moral and ethical observances. Thus, the pure-minded Knower finds all the usual codes and restraints redundant.
When a hungry person has had a sumptuous meal and his stomach is full, will he be interested in tasting any further delicacies? So too is the state of the Knower. Whatever is the ultimate goal, where all moral and ethical disciplines lead the seeker, namely realization of the Self, the Knower attains. Therefore, he rises above the conventional notes of formal and forbidden practices, as well as the indifference towards them.
In other words, the Knower embodies in him the full fruition of all religious, moral and ethical prescriptions. At the same time, his life is extremely benevolent, devoted as it is to the welfare of all beings upon the Earth.
Self-realization marks such a complete, fulfilling fruition!
