Ashtavakra Gita 11.1 -

एकादशोऽध्याय: – अष्टावक्र उवाच । भावाभावविकारश्च स्वभावादिति निश्चयी ।
निर्विकारो गतक्लेश: सुखेनैवोपशाम्यति

ekādaśo’dhyāyaḥ -aṣṭāvakra uvāca ..bhāvābhāva-vikāraś-ca svabhāvād-iti niścayī .nirvikāro gata-kleśaḥ sukhenaivopaśāmyati .. 11-1..

Existence, non-existence and existential changes are all due to the intrinsic nature of each. Discerning and resolving like this, one becomes comfortably restful in himself, without perturbation and undue exertion.

Commentary by Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha

World has been in existence for an incalculable length of time. For its existence, it has not looked for or depended upon anything other than itself. We humans constitute a negligible percentage of living beings thriving upon the Earth. We do not know how and why we came to be born.

As the Earth provides our food and nourishment, we make use of them and survive. To an extent we have faculties to think, understand, articulate and interact with the rest. Naturally we make use of these. All this presupposes that we only do what we are empowered to, by virtue of our nature and potential, which are not certainly our own making.

Everything in our life is a gift of Nature. Be sure of this and just live as other beings around do. Make light of every situation and impact that comes in life. Let not the ego cause trouble and torment any time.

Svabhāva, one’s own nature, propels every one and everything. With this firm knowledge, be at ease. Do not swing and get agitated. Without undue exertion, live the day, sleep the night, get up next morning, and follow nature. This way be restful.
