I am that whereon manifests this universe, like waves in the expanse of the sea. Even after knowing that this is so, why are you running about as a poor being? What for?
The whole spiritual path consists of ceaseless and intense introspection. For, that alone will engross one within his body, focussed in mento-intellectual process. All inner enrichment like goodness, perseverance, depth, loftiness, kindness, concentration and the like can be best gained by introspection. By introspection alone the seeker can eliminate undesirable traits and incorporate desirable ones. People, in general, seekers as well, do not know what truthful introspection can mean in gaining inner enrichment and illumination.
What are riches, in truth? It is the feeling of possession mind rears with regard to material things like house, family, money and other articles of utility. What verily matters is the enrichment mind produces and preserves. Thus a question becomes relevant. Can any material object of wealth ever enter the mind? What is wealth then? Is it the external articles, which cannot enter the mind, or the feeling of fullness mind fosters and preserves?
Self-realization is the direct experience of the Self, whose expanse is the whole world display. When this inner realization is had, it makes you feel abundant and full. Where is what for the Knower then to gain or possess? He floats in his inner sufficiency. “How and why do you, O king”, the Sage asks Janaka, “run around as one so poor and low?” What a pertinent reminder to all seekers!
