Ashtavakra Gita 2.6 - Self-Realization and the Nature of Consciousness

Janaka moves from the visual illustration to that of taste. Do not be obsessed by the visuals alone. The truth is the same for every sensory object.

From sugarcane juice is produced sugar. The entire juice disappears, and in its place crystals of sugar are formed. But the source juice is neither destroyed nor lost. It is fully there in the sugar.

In the same manner, the Universe which is produced in me, is pervaded by me in full. Where is any difference between the outcome produced and its source substance? Are not the Universe and the source ‘I’ the same, judged in any manner?
May be the appearantial features are a little different. But does that change the content and character of the substance? The sole error is caused by lack of proper evaluation.

Until the seeker begins to introspect over what happens, and in that what is the underlying truth, the confusion and error will continue. That is why our śāstras always state that ignorance and delusion are the sole cause of every distress. Remove ignorance by taking to truthful introspection. You will find the confusion cleared. You become truthful and forceful.

After all, where do you see the Universe? Only inside your body. External Universe cannot enter there. So, the Self alone produces what is there. It also disappears there itself, as in sleep!
