Ashtavakra Gita 10.5 -

The Sage takes Janaka’s vision to subtler and loftier levels. Spirituality is an inner voyage for knowledge by the intelligence. The presence to be glimpsed is the Self, pure Consciousness.

Janaka is reminded the fact that he is the secondless, sentient Effulgence. The universe is inert in every way. Our body is part of the Universe. Its presence is revealed by the awareness within. Every one says “my body”. It is mind, using the senses in the body, that perceives the body and the world alike. Ability to reveal is inherent in Consciousness alone, not in any object.

As for ignorance, it is like darkness, non-existent in truth. Only in presence of light, any visual sensation can be verified. Examine visual darkness with light. Will it be there? How do you then say that darkness is present? The place of ignorance is like darkness. Ignorance is lack of knowledge. Let knowledge be there, you will find it will endure for ever.

When the perception is thus led to its acme, where no ignorance or non-perception can survive, where is the question of craving for any knowledge at all? There are only two factors to deal with. One is the perceived universe, inert, unreal and hence non-existent. The other is the luminous ever present Self. What is there to be known then? Self, the witness, alone is. All the rest is fictitious, illusory. Drop all your quest, and be enlightened for ever.
