Ma Gurupriya ji's reflections on Poojya Swamiji's morning messages (Prabhata Rashmih)

Book: *Prabhata Rashmih Volume 1: Chapter 21: Ahankara & Mamata — How to Get Rid of Them*
Spiritual growth requires the renunciation of possessiveness (mamatā) and ego (ahaṅkāra), which arise from identifying everything connected to the body as “mine” and asserting “I am this or that.” Such attitudes disturb inner peace and must be consciously given up.
A spiritual seeker should focus on inner enrichment rather than external results. The mind must be carefully observed and trained to avoid excessive joy or sorrow in response to external interactions. True progress lies in elevating and purifying the mind through constant awareness. Ego-effacement is essential, though difficult, and is best achieved under the guidance of a Guru.
Deep reflection reveals that nothing truly belongs to us, and nothing is under our control. The seeker must be watchful, self-examining and introspective and train the mind to think without ego or possessiveness.
Through continuous introspection, humility, and receptivity to the Guru’s teachings, the seeker gradually overcomes ego and possessiveness, ensuring steady progress in spiritual sadhana.
