121 – Bhagavad Gita – Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha – The Glorious Knowledge Austerity

1013 Views | 1 year ago

In this satsang, Poojya Swamiji explains that to know the glory of Krishna's birth and activities in essence, is to verily know the Supreme Truth.

Normally, all our actions are motivated by desire, hatred and fear. This is because of our mistaken identification with the body and our mind remains agitated and discontent. To overcome this plight, one has to be devoted to Krishna. By remembering, introspecting, and taking refuge in Krishna, the Supreme, we have to bring the 'Krishna' dimension in all our actions. This is the glorious Knowledge austerity - jnana tapas by which, one can easily transcend the trio of desire-hatred-fear!

Swamiji clarifies that it is hard to satisfy human mind with one single spiritual instruction. Just as nature brims with variety, each one has their own pet desires and tendencies, which are hard to overcome or relinquish. So, people worship the Supreme in many different ways, and in the process they grow in their devotion. This slowly leads them to inner purity and refinement, and they begin to value the significance of knowledge worship. In this way Swamiji says, everyone is finally led towards this glorious path, one way or the other!
