In this Satsang, Swamiji begins explaining the verses of the seventh chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, where Sri Krishna emphasizes that the seeker must know the Supreme in a wholesome, comprehensive manner. For this, a Sadhaka’s must elevate his Sadhana from merely sensory and oral level to the mental and intelligential level.
Speaking about the rarity of spiritual knowledge and its dissemination, Sri Krishna highlights that true spiritual seekers are very few and among them only a rare few know the Supreme in essence.
Speaking from the standpoint of a knower, Sri Krishna reveals that his composite nature consists of eight constituents (Ashtadha Prakriti)—the five elements, mind, intelligence, and ego.
Imparting spiritual wisdom to Uddhava in Srimad Bhagavatam, Sri Krishna speaks about Prakriti and Purusha. The three gunas of Prakriti are Sattva (light, knowledge, and happiness), Rajas (activity and causes of activity), and Tamas (inertia). There is an inner presence which is untouched by the three gunas, which we refer to as ‘I’. The seeker must recognize that he is not the gunas or their effects and he must strive to realize this transcendental Self.
