In the Satsang, Swamiji discusses the seventh chapter where the emphasis is on the expansion of the Self to cover the entire range of existence. Krishna says that his eightfold lower nature consists of earth, water, fire, air, and space, along with the mind, intellect, and ego. The higher nature is the jīva—the presence by which the whole universe is sustained.

All beings—living and non-living—emerge from this presence. The “I” is the source of the whole creation and dissolution. The Self is infinite in every way, all-pervading. Nothing besides it can ever be. All existences are woven in the Self, like beads in a thread. Here the beads are but loose knots in and of the thread itself.

Krishna explains in detail how the one Soul manifests many things with manifold properties. The entire field of expression—sound, language, knowledge—arises from that one source. It is the taste in waters, brilliance in the Sun, moon, and fire, Om in all the Vedas, will power in humans, divine fragrance of the earth, life in all beings, and austerity in ascetics. It is the source, seed of all beings.
