054 – Bhagavad Gita – Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha – Mind – The Fountain of Happiness

3238 Views | 2 years ago

In this satsang, Swamiji explains how joy and contentment are entirely a product of the mind and being so, it is meaningless to run after the sense objects, in search of happiness. No sensation or experience is possible without the mind; the senses are inert and helpless in this matter!

As long as we are awake, the five sense organs continuously interact with the objects. So, there exists a perennial possibility of the mind being led astray by the senses. Therefore our buddhi must be active and alert in watching and regulating the mind and senses, at every step and prevent them from causing havoc. This inner regulation is indispensable for any spiritual seeker to attain placidity of mind.

Swamiji tells us that, an enlightened person always dwells on the inner presence, the Consciousness, knowing it to be the source and terminus of everything and finds ceaseless delight in it. The deluded on the otherhand, turn their back to this wonderful inner fountain of happiness and remain engrossed in fleeting sensory objects!

Poojya Swamiji will be taking Bhagavad Gita Verse by Verse in this Satsang (Saturdays). Swamiji is now discussing the second chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.
