051 – Bhagavad Gita – Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha – Boundless Potential of the Mind

2783 Views | 2 years ago

Right from the moment we wake up in the morning, the senses begin to interact with the external world and creates impressions in the mind. The mind in-turn gets immersed in the thoughts of these objects. Strangely, it never occurs to us to think about the inner presence which enlivens the body and makes all perceptions and interactions possible.

Poojya Swamiji exhorts us to contemplate on this inner presence and develop an association with it. Initially, due to inertia of habit, the prospect of leaving the external world and dwelling within, appears impossible and fearful. Swamiji tells us, this apprehension is like that of a girl who leaves the long association of her parents at the time of marriage and moves to the unfamiliar abode of the husband. But after spending enough time with the husband and enjoying his company, the very same girl now finds it difficult to return to the parental home!

In the same way, as the mind begins to enjoy the taste of this new inner association, a new affinity with the indweller develops. Finding God to be the one sure and unmistakable presence everywhere, very soon, the mind will find it difficult to leave that association and identify with the worldly chores!

Poojya Swamiji will be taking Bhagavad Gita Verse by Verse in this Satsang (Saturdays). Swamiji is now discussing the second chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.
