It is commonly believed that performing rituals, visiting temples, and praying to God is devotion. In this Satsang, Swamiji explains that, at the highest level, devotion means surrender. A true devotee is one who is ready and willing to accept every situation as ordained by his beloved Lord. This wholehearted acceptance of everything as given by the Supreme makes the mind peaceful.

The core concept of the Bhagavad Gita is that a seeker must divinize the whole life. Sri Krishna wanted Arjuna not to shun activities but to makes them instruments for self-realization, by changing the attitude with which activities are performed.

Krishna wanted Arjuna to progress to the Ultimate level, where he becomes an instrument of the Lord. For this, the Lord comes in the form of the Guru. Arjuna had to surrender all his desires, likes and dislikes to Sri Krishna, his Guru. The true test of surrender comes in the presence of the Guru.
