269 – Buddhi Yoga of Bhagavad Gita 2 I Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

Lecture series by Nutan Swamiji during Delhi Sadhana Shibiram 2025.
Date: 14 September 2025
Venue: CIRD, Delhi

In this Satsang, Swamiji speaks about meditational and interactional Sadhana. In meditational sadhana, the seeker tries to discover the Self as his own identity. But meditation is a time-bound Sadhana. It will have to be supported by interactional Sadhana, where the seeker must incorporate the dimensions of the Atma in all the activities and interactions. The goal of interactional Sadhana must become the same as that of meditative sadhana.

The Bhagavad Gita yoga is called buddhi yoga. In all activities and interactions, if the yoga buddhi is applied, then it becomes buddhi yoga or Karma yoga. By incorporating the soul dimensions in all interactions, the seeker begins interacting with the dimensions of the Atma and the mind slowly starts acquiring those dimensions. In this way, the whole wakeful period becomes sadhana.

Normally, the senses, mind and intelligence are controlled by Raga-dvesha—attraction or repulsion—and we become slave to the worldly situations. Bhagavad Gita urges the seeker to remedy this situation, by anchoring the buddhi in the Soul. Such a purified buddhi then can guide and direct the mind in a proper manner. By that, the mind will be imbued with noble thoughts and Aatmic dimensions. Such an enlightened mind will direct the sense organs properly. Such an integrated personality helps one overcome the slavery to the world and become master of the world.
