In this Satsang, Swamiji explains the mantras of Bhrigu Valli of Taittiriya Upanishad, where Bhrigu humbly approached his father (Varuna) for Brahma Vidya. Varuna said that from where are beings are born, by which they are sustained, towards which they are move and finally merge, that is Brahman.

The teacher asked him to meditate on Annam (food/objectude), Pranam (life forces), Chakshu (vision), Srotram (sound), manas (mind) and Vacham (speech). By this progressively subtle Sadhana, the seeker’s mind would be transformed and he would be finally led to the Consciousness within, the ultimate substratum of all our sense perceptions.

The Guru gave the guidance, but Bhrigu had to do tapas and realize it himself, attaining doubtlessness through enquiry and meditation.

Bhrigu first realized Annam as Brahman, but found it changeful while Brahman is changeless. Not fulfilled, he returned to Varuna, who again sent him to do further Tapasya (austerity). Bhrigu came to know Prana as Brahman, but he still was not fulfilled. Varuna sent him back for further austerities, asking him to go deeper and subtler levels of enquiry.
