In this Satsang, Swamiji continues the deep and thorough explanation of the practice of meditation. Kaivalya Upanishad says that meditation involves arranging the place, adopting a comfortable posture, maintaining external and internal purity, restraining the senses, and most importantly, mentally bowing down to the Guru with humility, devotion and surrender. Meditation entails centering attention in the heart's depths and purifying the mind, aiming to realize the unity of Atma and Brahman.

Swamiji outlines Ashtaanga Yoga's 8-fold Yoga Sadhana which involves five external aspects (Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara) and three internal aspects (Dhaarana, Dhyaana, Samadhi). The aim of Yoga is to dissolve one’s own small, limited identity in the Universal Identity.

Yama involves disciplines for peaceful and harmonious interactions with the world and taking to sensory disciplines to reduce all distractions. The Practices of Yama are: Ahimsa (avoiding hurting tendency), Satyam (fostering truth), Asteyam (avoiding stealthiness), Brahmacharyam (practicing celibacy and being on the path of Brahma Jnana) and Aparigraham (not accepting anything other than essentials). Yama practices help one to overcome desires and gain purity, inner strength and expansion.

Niyama practices help one to become cheerful, stable, and contented and to dedicate all actions to the Supreme. Niyama practices include: Shaucham (external and internal purity), Santosham(contentment), Tapah (Austerity), Svaadhyaya (Study of scriptures and anchoring the mind in the Soul), and Ishwara Pranidhaanaa (surrendering to the Lord).

Swamiji will be discussing 'Voice of Upanishads'. The Global Satsang will be based on Kaivalya Upanishad. | Live Satsangs with Spiritual Masters on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday at 8 pm IST/10:30 am EDT/ 10:30 pm MST.
