In this thought-provoking session, Swamiji continues to discuss the Yajna concept presented in Bhagavad Gita. After describing various sacrifices (Yajnas), Sri Krishna says that all Yajnas (physical, mental, or intellectual) are nothing more than activity. But all activities we perform will become a Yajna if we can perform the activities without any possessiveness, delusional clinging, ego, desires or expectations. So, what is important is the attitude with which every activity is performed.
Yajnas are two-fold — one in which materials like rice, ghee, flowers etc. are offered into the fire accompanied by the chanting of Vedic Mantras. The other is the Jnana Yajna where the sacrifice is done through wisdom. Jnana Yajna (Knowledge sacrifice) is superior to the Yajna where materials are offered into the fire. Krishna emphasizes that all activities have their culmination and fulfilment only in gaining true spiritual Knowledge.
To gain this knowledge about the imperishable, unchanging Truth, one must go to the Guru with humility and devotion. He is one who is exposed to the inner world and is established in the Consciousness. He is forever abiding in Brahman. He has a refined and sharp intelligence and has
attained the Supreme knowledge through a process of contemplation. Such a knower will instruct the Supreme wisdom to the seeker who approaches him with enquiry and a yearning to know the Truth.
