Day 2 of a two-day satsang series given my Nutan Swamiji, on Qualities of a Devotee, based on Bhagavad Gita Chapter 12.

In this Satsang, Swamiji continues his in-depth explanation of the ‘Bhakta-lakshanas’ (the characteristics of a devotee), as enumerated in the Bhagavad Gita. A true devotee is free of hatred and intolerance towards other beings, rejoices in the good fortune of others and is empathetic towards those who suffer.

A devotee is free from possessiveness and Ahankara (egotism), remains equal in sukha and duhkha, and is forbearing. He is ever contented, accepting every situation with love and surrender. Constantly united with his real identity, he remains inwardly disciplined.

He seeks nothing from the world, and so nothing can shake his spiritual resolve. His mind and intellect are fully offered to the Supreme Lord. He neither becomes the cause of anxiety or disturbance to others, not is he disturbed by others. He is free from excessive elation in pleasant situations and free from depression in painful situations.

He expects nothing from anyone, anywhere, or at any time. He maintains internal and external purity and is efficient and skillful. Established in an elevated state, he looks upon everything with expansiveness, balance, and compassion.
