In the ‘Sadguru Saannidhya’ series, Ma reads and elaborates on the Sadhana-related portions from Swamiji’s book- ‘My Beloved Baba.’ Swamiji’s quest was to know who a knower is -- how he behaves, and how he engages in actions and interactions. All his questions were answered when he met Baba (his Guru), who was amiable, free, and transparent. It revealed to Swamiji what a real seeker should aim at in the spiritual pursuit.

Baba revealed that a Knower has a childlike simplicity and performs all actions naturally, free from likes and dislikes. His mind finds deep and well-founded harmony, while performing any activity, as well as before and after the activity. He does not run about seeking anything; he is constantly given to worshipping the inmost presence, the Self. He realizes that all worship is self-based and self-addressed and there is nothing external in the worship. One who has attained spiritual fruition (a Siddha), remains unaffected even in the face of the greatest calamities, abiding in the all-pervading Self.

By observing the austere and saintly Baba, and through close association with him, Swamiji understood that openness and straightforwardness were the characteristics of a knower—qualities a seeker must imbibe. He acknowledged that while his body was raised by his parents, his inner personality was being nourished and shaped by his intimate association with Baba.
