Ma Gurupriya

270 – Sadguru Sannidhya 20 | Swamini Ma Gurupriya

301 Views | 6 months ago

In the Satsang, Ma continues to read and discuss the relationship between Swamiji and his beloved Guru, Baba. In his book ‘My beloved Baba’, Swamiji writes about his interactions with Baba, and the profound lessons he imbibed by observing Baba’s actions and interactions.

Baba believed that unquestioned fondness makes the heart and mind unhindered receptacles of Guru’s grace. Guru’s grace flows equally for all, but a disciple is not able to fully receive it because of his own desires, preferences, prejudices, and lack of openness. When the shishya cultivates noble qualities and sincerely strives to purify his being, he becomes dear to his Guru.

When one leaves home and matrimonial relationships and takes to a life of austerity, he begins to move in a larger circle of people and works for the welfare of the entire humanity. A Sannyasin’s life would involve constant travel and stay in different environments. Baba emphasized that such a life demands the preservation of purity under all circumstances, especially taking to Saatvika food.

Moving in such a larger section of people, the Sannyasin would have fond feelings for those around him. To live amidst such extra-familial fondness, he would have to be ready for anything—a sword or a garland.
