In this Satsang, speaking about the sacred relationship of Swamiji and Baba, Ma emphasizes that Guru Sannidhya is not years of physical closeness or service, but sincere inner assimilation of the Guru’s teachings. Without reflection, alertness, and self-assessment, one can have neither knowledge nor purification. The disciple must take to constant introspection and self-assessment.

Swamiji describes his relationship with Baba as one of mutual openness and straightforwardness, which transcended all routine and formality. He felt that the real offering to the Guru is to become what the Guru wants the disciple to become. Rather than resorting to any kinds of formal worship of the Guru, a disciple must strive to become like the Guru.

Through loving association, the disciple naturally imbibes the Guru’s qualities. Spiritual maturity means fulfillment, freedom from ego, and acceptance of both hardship and honour. The association with a realized master teaches a disciple how to live and interact with all kinds of people. By his own behaviour and interactions, the Guru sets an ideal for the disciple to follow.
