Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

02 – Bhagavad Gita – Chapter 15 – by Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha – Realizing Our Supreme Identity

2 Views | 2 years ago

In this talk, Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha ji dives deeper into the verses of Purushottama Yoga and expounds the truth of the Ashwattha tree, the tree of worldliness, transient yet Avyaya. One cannot see nor comprehend the beginning or end or even the basis of this huge strong samsara tree.

Explaining the verse, Swamiji says that the tree can be cut with the sword of detachment, with a mind that is not clinging to the fruits of action and having withdrawn from external objects. Such a mind develops a comprehensive universal vision.

Having developed this detachment, inquire into the eternal truth, taking refuge only in the Supreme Self, says Swamiji.

Swamiji again exhorts us to divinize interactional life in our path to realize the Self. He persuades us to be effortful in our theoretical learning and constantly strive to introspect on our real identity. This can only happen when we truly do not cling to preferences and prejudices of our mind and we completely surrender to the Supreme ultimate Truth.
Explaining verses 2 to 4 in detail, Nutan Swamiji discusses karma and its bondage. Swamiji emphasizes that by the non dual knowledge, the mind gets purified and the agitations of the mind dissolve.
Shlokas discussed: (1 to 4)
