Discourse followed by Q/A with Poojya Swamiji
#enlightenedliving #bhoomananda

Swamiji says that personal stories are the prevailing influence for the entire humanity and says that the lives of Rama, Krishna, and Shankaracharya had a great influence on his own life of seeking. While he admired Rama and Krishna, he found a deeper connection with Shankara, who embodied his own aspiration for a life of fullness, glory and renunciation.

The text 'Bhaja Govindam' is a composition that exhorts a seeker to have discrimination (Viveka), dispassion (Vairagya), and devotion to Lord Govinda. This text was created by Shankaracharya when he saw a man memorizing the rules of Sanskrit grammar in a temple courtyard unaware that he was about to be bitten by a cobra. Seeing his state, Shankaracharya composed the beautiful text.

The first two verses urge the seeker to worship Lord Govinda and emphasize the futility of worldly pursuits in the face of death. It exhorts the seeker to abandon the greed for earning wealth and to grow in dispassion for the world.

The chanting and understanding of 'Bhaja Govindam' is sure to lead to the transformation of one’s personality.
