Ma Gurupriya

05 – Swamini Ma Gurupriya – Points for Sadhana

10 Views | 2 years ago

In this talk, Ma Gurupriya ji reiterates that the goal of Sadhana is Self Realization/ identifying our true nature. All the scriptures and the Gurus have at length described the nature of the Self. Ma says that when one attains this state, one experiences eternal bliss and one becomes expansive, universal and free of all constrictions and limitations.

Ma reminds us of the three steps to be followed very diligently in our Sadhana - Sravana, Manana and Nididhyasana. Ma says that Sravana or listening to the Guru's teachings with one -pointed attention is very important. But, more crucial than listening is to reflect on his teachings (Manana) and meditation on the Truth (Nidhidhyasana).

Ma asks the listeners to assess the obstacles in their own sadhana. Ma highlights the fact that it is our very own tendencies, traits, desires and Gunas which constrict our minds. They create preferences and prejudices and cause immense suffering.

Ma quotes from the scriptures and tells us that a true sadhaka must 1) Do manana and identify the subtle and hidden desires, attachment and possessiveness and eliminate them. 2) Cultivate virtues of truthfulness, compassion, forbearance, straightforwardness etc.

This alone will make our minds pure and restful, says Ma.
