Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha

085 – by Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha – Voice of Upanishads

In this satsang, Nutan Swamiji clearly emphasizes that it is only by knowing our Atma as the one Self of all and by merging our identity in that Universal Consciousness, we can go beyond birth and death. There is no alternate way.

Whenever we sit for meditation or try to think about the Truth, often we find that subtle thoughts like apprehensions, anxiety and expectations arise and cause disturbance. They do not allow us to focus. Swamiji tells us that it is due to our inherent 'bhogecha' - the tendency to experience something different from us, which does not allow us to get completely merged in the Source. Withdrawal from 'bhogecha' is thus a life long sadhana for any seeker, for as long as mind holds on to likes and dislikes or thinks that joy lies outside, it will not become sharp enough to pierce the target (Brahman).

Swamiji elucidates further that by remaining in presence of a Knower and interacting with him, we can easily discover all the misconceptions, delusions and impurities in our being. In the company of the desireless mind of Guru, all our hidden tendencies get readily revealed and purification of our being becomes extremely facile!

Swamiji will be discussing 'Voice of Upanishads'. The Global Satsang will be based on Kathopanishad and Mundakopanishad. | Live Satsangs with Spiritual Masters on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday at 8 pm IST/10:30 am EDT/ 10:30 pm MST.
