Gurupoornima Retreat - 2024 - Discourse based on Bhagavad Gita followed by Q/A.

#bhoomananda #gurupurnima #bhagavadgita #gita

In this whole series of talks, Swamiji shares and explains verses from the Bhagavad Gita which are independent and sovereign. There is no reference to God or Self in these verses and each verse is a complete sadhana for a seeker of Truth.

Sri Krishna describes this yogic pursuit as the most purifying and pleasant to practice. Even a small measure of this practice will relieve the seeker of great fear and his effort will never be in vain.

In this concluding talk, Swamiji gives five verses (pentagon) from the thirteenth chapter (13.14—13.18) which speak about the inner presence by which the body is animated and activated. He urges all listeners to learn, understand the meaning and contemplate on the five verses repeatedly.

The Power and presence within, being omnipresent, enfolds the whole universe. It has eyes, ears and face everywhere. Revealing and possessing all senses, it does not have any sensory organ. It does not cling to anything; at the same time, it protects all. It is devoid of the three gunas, but at the same time it enjoys and suffers from the effect of the Gunas.

It is all-pervading, it is outside and inside all beings. It is moving as well as non-moving. It is not easily comprehensible because of its subtlety. It the closest, as well as infinitely distant. Though it is indivisible, it appears to be divided by the many bodies. It is that which holds, sustains all beings and creations.

It is the brilliance of all luminaries; It is beyond darkness of ignorance. It is knowledge, the only one to be known and it is to be approached by the knowing process. It is established in the heart of all beings. Swamiji urges everyone to understand that this inner treasure is carried by everyone. This inner presence enlivens the body, makes the mind think, the intelligence understand, and makes us sleep and wake up. Human life is meant to realize this Truth.
