In this Satsang, Swamiji explains the mantras which speak about Ananda (bliss), which is the nature of Brahman. Because of its all-pervasiveness, Brahman is the Rasa (essence or bliss) of the entire creation.
Brahman is all-pervading and it does not have any support or cause. When a seeker gets established in Brahman, he becomes fearless. Fear comes only when there is even a little differential notion in the mind. The Upanishad says that all the natural powers—air, sun, fire, Indra, and death—are functioning out of fear of Brahman.
The Upanishad gives an evaluation of Ananda. It first speaks about the Ananda of a human being. A youth, who is honest, sincere, knowledgeable, disciplined, powerful, stable, firm, who has wealth and riches and inner strength, that is one unit of human Ananda. If the human Ananda is multiplied by hundred, it is the Ananda of one Manushya Gandharva. The Ananda of Deva Gandharvas (those in the heavenly plane), Pitrs (forefathers), the devas born in heaven, Karma devas (those who have done Vedic performances), Devas, Indra, Brihaspati, Prajapati are progressively hundred times more. The Ananda of Brahman is hundred times that of Prajapati. Whether it is a deva or a human, the ultimate Ananda is only when one realizes the Ultimate Truth, being free from desires.
When a seeker, after transcending worldliness, comes to know that Brahman is all-pervading, his mind pervades subtler and subtler levels and he finally attains Brahmananda. Knowing that, which is beyond words and mind, he is free from fear. He never has any remorse or repentance about good or bad deeds performed. He becomes fulfilled, liberated.
