Gurupoornima Retreat Sessions by Poojya Swamiji on Vivekachoodamani

In this session, Swamiji says that a Self-realized man becomes a towering personality. He is stable on the knowledge that the body is limited, but the Self is not limited. He is able to assimilate all interactional impacts in the mind, without getting disturbed or tormented. The knowledge of the inner presence (which is universal) takes aways all desires, hatred, competition, and jealousy from his mind.

Ascetics, with the very lofty goal and purpose before them, renounce all desires and sensory delights and restrain their senses and mind. At the end of their pursuit, they attain supreme redemption or liberation, by means of unification with the One Sentience. By their realization of the magnitude of the ‘I’, they know that they are untainted like the Sky, self-effulgent like the Sun, unshakeable like the mountain and unbounded like the ocean.

The whole universe is born of Brahman. The knower of Truth is established in this knowledge in all states and conditions. Just as the eyes see shapes, forms, and colors in all objects, the intelligence of the ascetics comprehend and take delight only in the universal presence in everything in the world. If one can have this inner, delightful perception, why would anyone desire the sensory pleasures of the world?

A person steeped and delighting in his own Self will neither be delighted by objects, nor will he be depressed by objects. He is neither attached to anything, nor detached from anything. He is always delighting in his own inner presence, contented in the incessant inner bliss.
