Q & A Session during an Interactional Worshop at Frying Pan Community Hall, Farm Park, VA on 25 September 2022 during USA Sadhana Shibiram 2022.
In this session, Swamiji responds to questions raised by the participants of the workshop. He emphasizes that one can never find permanent happiness in the world. For this, one must turn the mind within to find the source of perennial joy. For this, the seeker must do repeated introspection on the fact that the transitory objects of the world will never make him permanently happy. He must take up the spiritual pursuit to discover the joy within.
The real anchor is within. All other anchors—like wealth, family, possessions—are all perishable. Atma, our own Self is eternal, and a seeker must look for and discover this unfailing anchor. He can discover it in meditation. The goal of meditation must become the goal of the interactional period also. In all his interactions, he must strive to bring in the qualities of the Atma— impersonality, impartiality, unaffectedness, non-clinging etc.
A seeker must have an aspiration for Self-Realization. For that, every moment of the day, he must try to connect with and become the Self. With every thought, activity, speech, and interaction, he must come closer to the Self. He must gain virtues and ger rid of undesirable traits from his personality. With every activity and interaction, he must strive for unaffectedness, and universality. Just having the desire to know the Self will not make a seeker self-realized. He must have the aspiration to grow every moment and come closer and closer to the goal.
In the session, Swamiji speaks about how the mind can be trained to accept and tackle any unpleasant situation. By a process of repeated introspection and spending mind hours, the mind can be strengthened.
