In this talk, Ma continues to enumerate on the qualities of a model devotee, as discussed in the twelfth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.

An ideal devotee is one by whom the world is not troubled and one who is not troubled by the world. Such a devotee who is also free from the grip of delight and anger, fear and anxiety, is dearest to the Lord.

Normally, we have desires and expectations which disturb the mind. A true devotee must be free of expectations and must be given to inner and outward purity. He must be efficient and effective in all undertakings and be straightforward, tactful, and effective. He must be indifferent, impartial, and impersonal and be free from strong afflictions. He must keep away from the sense of doership.

One who is not elated by the pleasant or resentful of the unpleasant, who neither grieves nor desires, who gives up the sense of auspiciousness and inauspiciousness is most dear to the Lord. A true devotee must be equal towards enemy and friend, honour and dishonour, happiness and unhappiness, blame and praise and must be non-clinging. He must be given to silence and must be contented with whatever he gets, have no possessiveness for the place of residence. Such a stable-minded devotee, who strives to attain these nectarine qualities, is most dear to the Lord.

Ma emphasizes that a sincere seeker must assess himself and strive to become a devotee whom God loves. He must cultivate the qualities discussed in the scriptures and make them a part of his personality.
