The plight and downfall, says Arjuna, do not end there, making the situation too grave and consequential for the society. It is not that a family alone is destroyed; the traditional cultural practices of the entire lineage become extinct.

Child-birth is a great, holy event. To consecrate, enrich and empower it, right from inception of pregnancy, a series of well-designed rituals are performed for the foetus’s proper growth, birth and development, so that the newborn will be good and noble, fulfilling a great role on earth.

To parent a child is virtually assuming the role of Brahmā, the Creator. For, any new child marks the beginning of a new series. In normal state of affairs, it is likely to continue as long as the earth lasts. The inner psycho-intellectual part of the whole process, Arjuna feels, gets totally upset in the case of varṇa-confusions the war is sure to precipitate.
