Arjuna unhesitatingly says he wants to have a look at those who have come to the battlefield with a view to fulfil Duryodhana’s hopes and desires. It is very clear that Duryodhana’s designs are mischievous and vicious.

Arjuna confirms that the battle is clearly between the vicious and virtuous sections of the society at large. Vice sprouts in an individual’s heart. But as it grows, it extends to and comprehends more and more people.

And now what Arjuna sees in front are millions, coming from all parts of not only India but entire Asia. With one Duryodhana, stand thousands of rulers like him. In fact, his army far exceeds Arjuna’s.

The war was a societal event, not a personal one. A virtuous ruler alone can counter the wicked one. If he relents in this, it will destroy the society. Arjuna’s last minute preparation is thus quite understandable. He wants to know whom specifically has he to contend.
