In this Satsang, Nutan Swamiji emphasizes that a seeker must understand the three gunas, their bondage, and strive to transcend them. Tamo guna, the quality of inertia and ignorance, can be overcome by cultivating rajo guna (activity) and sattva guna (purity). Rajo guna, characterized by desireful activity, can be overcome by strengthening sattva.

The Transcendental Truth is beyond the effect of the three gunas. Normally, the sense organs have attraction and repulsion towards world objects and situations. Following that the mind becomes polluted and following that the intelligence comes under the clutch of worldliness. This slavery to the world can be overcome when the intelligence gets established in the Self. Knowledge the Atma, one can transcend the bondage of the three gunas.

Sri Krishna cautions that even sattva guna binds through attachment to knowledge and happiness (sukha-saṅga and jñāna-saṅga). Srimad Bhagavatam declares that the only way to overcome sattva guna is through surrender—unswerving bhakti and non-expectation (nirapekṣa). By surrendering completely to the Divine, the seeker becomes triguṇātīta—transcending the gunas. Anchored in the Self, he realizes his universal identity with Brahman, attaining supreme freedom and peace.
