Commentary

Arjuna’s pride in his position as an unrivalled warrior is quite evident. He has come to Kurukshetra, with substantial reinforcements, his Gandiva bow being the primary one among them. This naturally found expression in Arjuna’s words to Krishna.

Before the war, when he and Duryodhana were in Dwaraka seeking help for the battle, of the two options Krishna gave, he chose the unarmed, non-fighting Krishna. On being asked why he did so, he confessed to Krishna that he had for long cherished to fight a war with Krishna charioting him. Though innocent, it proved to be a greatly rewarding confession!
