In this session, Ma continues to read and explain the section from Swamiji’s book — ‘My Beloved Baba’, where Swamiji speaks about his days of intense Sadhana and deep introspection.
Mundakopanishad says that the soul is to be attained by the strength of truth (satya), austerity (tapas), mature wisdom (Samyak-jnana), and constant brahmacharya. Explaining the deeper meaning of the words, Baba had said that Satya is a full spiritual discipline urging the seeker to watch his mind constantly and to remove the least tendency of clinging to worldliness. Samyak-jnana is where the indwelling presence is realized as the supreme Reality, Brahman. Brahmacharya means living and moving in Brahman alone.
During Baba’s visit to Kerala, it was noticed that he was constantly in a state of absorption. But he would respond sensitively to anyone calling him. When asked about this absorption, Baba replied that Samadhi is a self-absorbed state. But it is not like sleep or jada-samadhi (a deep, unconscious state marked by insensitiveness.) One absorbed in jnana-samadhi clearly knows that he is in that state.
Swamiji writes that his quest was to know how a self-realized man lives and moves in the world. In Baba, he found the full answer to his quest. Every word, action, and behaviour of Baba reflected the state of a knower of Truth.
