03 of 03 Talks based on Bhagavad Gita during Malaysia Jnana Yajna 2024.
08 September 2024, SIRD Malaysia
In this Satsang, Ma emphasizes that a seeker must gain spiritual knowledge and apply it in every facet of life. The aim is to understand one’s own identity (to understand that one is the changeless Self) and to remain unaffected by the challenges in life.
The seeker must constantly remind himself that “I am the unaffected Self,” which is unattached, unchanging, eternal, pure, indestructible. When one thinks that the Lord/Self is in everything, everywhere, in every being, the mind expands and becomes universal and the intelligence becomes sharper and more subtle.
The thirteenth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita speaks about qualities which constitute true spiritual wisdom. Qualities like sublimation of pride, non-ostentation, non-hurting can be cultivated easily if a seeker constantly thinks that it is same Self which is present everywhere and in everyone. One must strive to cultivate the quality of tolerance and straightforwardness in thoughts, speech, and actions.
Having close association with the teacher, the seeker must serve him and be guided by him. Having full faith in the words of the Guru, he must strive to assimilate his teachings and implement them in his own life. Cleanliness of body and mind, resoluteness in spiritual pursuit, self-discipline are indispensable qualities for any seeker.
The Sadhaka must restrain his sense organs, and he must train the mind to be the master of the senses. He must be free of egoism and must clearly see the torment which arises out of birth, death, old age, disease, and affliction. Being free of delusional clinging, he must be even-minded towards all favourable and unfavourable events. The seeker must have unflinching devotion and faith in the teacher, who exposes the Spiritual Truth to him.
