In this Satsang, Swamiji discusses the state of an exalted Yogi, who is imbued with Samatva-equalness. An exalted Yogi is one who is able to evenize all experiences, and consequently evenize all the persons, places and events in the course of his interactions, into a uniform presence and display of the self.
Bhagavad Gita says that those who worship the Supreme with wholesome devotion, are ever united with Him. Those who worship the imperishable Self--remaining unshakeable, firm, poised, equal in all situations and constantly interested in the welfare of all creatures-- also attain the Supreme.
What are the characteristics of a true devotee? Being free of hatred towards any creature in the world, he is friendly, considerate, and sympathetic towards everyone. He fosters no sense of possessiveness or egoism. He has an even, equal attitude to happiness & misery, friends & enemies, praise & blame and is free of all delusional clinging. He is contented with whatever comes or goes, and has no sense of possessiveness about any place.
Samatva extends to all walks of his life. He perceives the Supreme well-seated in all creatures, as the imperishable presence in all destructible things of the universe. Equalness of vision insulates him from all hazards and calamities. He is always reconciled to all events and situations in life. Swamiji assures all listeners that this kind of spatial expansion, steadiness can be acquired with the help of our own mind and intelligence.
