Bhagavad Gita is the essence of all Upanishads, teaching that we are divine—the imperishable Self. Mistakenly, we identify with the changeful body, mind, and intelligence, forgetting our eternal, unaffected nature. Krishna instructed the Gita to Arjuna in the battlefield when he was gripped by grief, fear, and confusion. Krishna told him that only the body is destructible, not the Soul, and prepared his mind to act with the right attitude—dwelling on “I am the Self” and surrendering to the Supreme.
Krishna’s message began with the Soul concept: the body is perishable, the Soul eternal. Explaining Samatva he said that life always brings Sukha and duhkha, and a seeker must cultivate even-mindedness towards them. Karma yoga is when one performs all activities with a yoga attitude, without clinging to the work or the results. Krishna advised pursuing yoga by remembering “I am not the body; I am the unchanging presence.” Gaining the Supreme state, one considers nothing else to be superior and remaining in that state, even the greatest of adversities will not disturb him.
Ma exhorts listeners to feel blessed and grateful to be on the spiritual path. Every activity—working, interacting, thinking—must become divine through self-examination and introspection. A seeker should love the spiritual path, adhere to regular spiritual routines, and reflect constantly on how to live the message of the Bhagavad Gita.
Shlokas chanted in the Satsang:
30:23 - यं लब्ध्वा चापरं लाभं मन्यते …. Bhagavad Gita 6.22
