In this Satsang, Swamiji gives a brief synopsis of Taittiriya Upanishad, before beginning the discussion of Bhriguvalli (the concluding section).
Shiksha Valli (the first portion) of the Upanishad contains disciplines for a seeker to help reduce the slavery of the mind to the world and become self-seated. It also discusses pronunciation and phonetics, the purpose of which is to make the mind focused, and attentive. Then the Upanishad speaks about various kinds of Upasanas, with the intention of making the divergent mind convergent and taking it to further subtler levels.
In the last section of Shiksha Valli, the Guru addresses the students departing after years of education under his tutelage and care. He urges them not to neglect or overlook any aspect of life—earning wealth, spending it righteously, sharing the wealth with the others and his own teacher, duty towards his family and progeny. Most importantly, the Guru repeatedly reminds them never to neglect svaadhyaaya (study about one’s own true identity or study of shastras) and Pravachana (deep reflection on the scriptures).
Brahmanandavalli discusses the model of creation and discusses the process of evolution of a human. By diligent practice, the seeker must identify with progressively subtler aspects of his being and finally merge in Atma. Brahman or Atma itself is Ananda (bliss). The Upanishad gives a measure of Brahmananda—comparing the bliss of humans to heavenly devas etc. Everywhere, it is emphasized that to discover the real bliss, the seeker must realize his real identity and he must be free of desires.
When a seeker takes refuge in the transcendental Brahman, there is no more fear for him. He never repents not doing good acts or doing sinful acts. Having crossed all duality, he does everything being in tune with Brahman.
In Bhriguvalli, sage Bhrigu approaches his father Varuna with all humility and requests for instructions on Brahma Vidya.
