In this Satsang, Swamiji emphasizes that the primary purpose of the Upanishad is to lead us to discover our own identity. Discussing the model of creation, the Upanishad says that from the Atma (Self) various elements of nature manifested in the cosmic level and finally man was created. It describes the process of evolution, where man progresses from the gross level to the subtler levels of his own identity and traces his path back to his own identity (Atma).
One who knows Brahman as Asat (Shoonya), becomes Asat. Whereas, one who overcomes the Asat by sadhana, he comes to know that the whole world is appearing in the Atma. He knows it as Sat. One who has realized the sat, becomes Santa (saintly). Approaching the Guru (who knows it as Sat), following the sadhana given by him, the seeker comes to know it as Sat.
In the Upanishad, the Guru instructs the disciples about the nature of Brahman. By the knowledge austerity of Brahman, the whole of creation appeared. Having created the world, he entered the entire creation; Brahman itself became the world. He manifested as all perceptible & imperceptible things, all that is limited & unlimited, knowledge & ignorance, and Truth & untruth and everything that is the refuge & that is not the refuge.
From the Asat world, the Sat emerged; Brahman created or manifested himself. Since he is in every atom of the world, he is prevalent as the essence or Ananda (rasah) in everything. Because of the Rasa, there is bliss everywhere; it is the source of bliss. When a seeker comes to know the Consciousness, which transcends all duality, he becomes fearless.
