In this Satsang, ‘Placidity of the mind’ is the core subject of discussion. The seeker who is able to make the mind calm and peaceful (by the practice of Sadhana), he attains supreme happiness.
Normally, the mind is agitated or tormented. Bhagavad Gita says that such a desultory mind can be controlled by persistent practice and intense dispassion. A seeker must make it a practice to observe the mind and introspect on the mind processes.
Withdrawing from all sensory activities, when a seeker starts focusing on the sentient presence within, slowly the agitations, cravings of the mind reduce, all instabilities vanish and the body radiates with the inner presence.
In the state of meditation, the practitioner must dissuade the mind from sinking into a state of oblivion and prevent the mind from getting distracted. When he does that, the mind gets into an even, still state. It requires a steady, intense practice to focus on the singular presence within. Repeated practice leads to a quiescent mind.
Scriptures say that when the mind remains unaffected because of the firm conviction that all attitudes, notions are all made by nature, that God is the creator and source of everything, it leads to quiescent mind. Such a mind does not cling to anything; it becomes peaceful. Swamiji urges all listeners to focus on quietening the mind, through knowledge.
