The sixth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita is devoted to meditation and realizing the Self. Meditation is the means and effort, where the mind thinks about an optional thought devoutly, wholesomely. When the optional thought is preserved in the mind, that thought also will dissolve and one will be taken to the source of the thoughts, source of all existence.
The focal point of this Satsang is ‘placidity of the mind.’ Swamiji says that when the mind becomes peaceful and placid, one will get the most supreme Sukha. When Samadhi is practiced constantly, one will have steady realization of the Self. The understanding or realization must become steady in interactions too. When the knowledge becomes unbroken and constant throughout life, one gets eternal happiness.
Samadhi is quiescence of the mind. In this calm and steady state, the senses become quiet and the mind is free of all desires. The mind processes get dissolved and one attains equalness. Thinking about the omnipresent Self, the mind gets dissolved in the omnipresence.
Swamiji says that Sri Rama, Arjuna, Uddhava, and Janaka just heard the message of the Self, the Supreme Truth. They did not get into meditation. They just heard the message, absorbed it and there was inner transformation and placidity. When the mind is placid and poised, there are no desires, or torments. The mind subsides in its own source.
