Life poses numerous challenges every day. When conflicts arise, we usually end up shaken, frustrated, and unhappy. In this Satsang, Swamiji says that the answer is not to run away or avoid any challenging situation. The solution is to look within and extract strength and stability from within. Stable-mindedness is not getting affected by situations and not getting affected by the results.
Arjuna had come to the Kurukshetra battlefield after years of planning and preparation. But when he saw his kith and kin, whom he had to fight, he crumbled. He faced the greatest challenge of his life and he asked Krishna to lead him to the path of auspiciousness. In reply, Krishna exposed the knowledge of the Self to Arjuna.
The Self (‘I’) is the revealer or knower of the body, mind and intelligence, emotions etc. The ‘I’ is the observer of the external universe and also the internal universe of mind, thoughts, emotions etc. One who has realized the Self also moves and interacts with the world, but with an elevated mindset. Through all his actions and interactions, his intelligence is anchored in the Self.
Normally we are always indulging in sensory enjoyments. The senses, mind and the intelligence are a slave to the worldly situations. If anything goes wrong, we lose our Self-seatedness. Defining our inner personality, Sri Krishna says that the senses are more powerful than the objects; mind is superior to the senses; intelligence is superior to the mind. The Self is superior to the buddhi. By understanding and by getting established on that which is superior to the intelligence, one can win over the world.
Swamiji says that when the intelligence is anchored in the Self, it can get rid of negative influences and guide the mind in the right direction, which in turn can discipline the senses. Striving for this integration of the personality, the seeker must see every challenge as an opportunity to overcome it and rise to a higher, a more elevated dimension.
