Ma Gurupriya ji's reflections on Poojya Swamiji's morning messages (Prabhata Rashmih)
Date: 05 May 2025
Venue: Vijnana Bhavan, Narayanashrama Tapovanam
In this Satsang, Ma reads out and elaborates on the Prabhata Rashmih titled “Detachment—The only way to Live well”. What is detachment or Vairagya? Is it renouncing worldly life, leaving the household? What is a seeker meant to renounce? In the Prabhata Rashmih, Swamiji gives a clear reply to this question.
There may be many challenges arising in life. A seeker is meant to face them with a measure of indifference. He must not get subdued or agitated by events. Instead, he must assimilate and outlive them and get enriched by them. The mind has a capacity to outgrow and outlive all situations and their impacts.
Our body is subject to destruction and decay but the inner Presence (the Self) is invincible. The Self is eternal, omnipresent, unshakeable, unmoving, and ever-existing. By introspecting on this and understanding it, the seeker must begin to feel that he himself is truly invincible and that he cannot be subdued by any situation.
Spirituality never requires a seeker to run away from any situation. Instead, Spirituality urges seekers to never become attached to anything, while remaining active and interactive. Attachment is a self-created bondage. How to find out if one is attached? If the mind feels subdued and agitated by an external situation, then it is because there is attachment, an expectation of a certain kind of result, or behaviour. When this expectation or attachment is outlived, then the mind will become expansive.
